RE: Motorhome (A or C) vs. Trailer (tt or 5er)

I decided the new 5er and new truck were far more desirable. I have less than $100k in the truck and 5er. The space in the 5er far exceeds the space in a motor home of comparable price. The truck can be used all the time and does not just sit when not camping.

RE: Propane hookup for grill -- directly to the trailer ??

In order to run your Q on your big tanks is to get a Extend-A-Stay deluxe or a similar system that connects between your tank valve and your pressure regulator. They can be had with a 12' hose (I have that) that will connect to your Q in place of the 1 lb tanks.
Ditto the pipe going to the RV is low pressure. You need high pressure for the Q.

RE: weber baby Q

I purchased the cast iron griddle accessory it works great for bacon, eggs, pancakes, ETC and any other food you do not want to cook directly on the grate. The griddle is a bit heavy but keeps a lot of the cooking mess out of the 5er kitchen.

RE: Storing 50A detachable cord

I only have one AC so I bought an adapter from CW 50 amp twist to 30 amp plug and use a 30 amp extension cord. The 50 amp cord is stored in a container but rarely comes out.

RE: Trail Air Hitch/Suspension System

This is my first 5'er
I ordered the air ride hitch coupler with my 5'er.
I can not imagine what it would be like without it.
I wish I had ordered the package (air ride hitch coupler and a Trail Air center point air ride suspension system) as it was a lot cheaper when ordering it with the new rig than adding it now.
My last rig was a Endura Super C Things were always falling and breaking when going down the road. in the new 5'er I forgot to lay my 20 LCD TV on the bed one trip it was still standing on the counter 100 miles later. i do not have any experience without the hitch but the experience with it is positive.

RE: fiver pull test and Superglide

So
1. Sound (mousetrap)
2. Visual (Paint on latch)
3. Padlock (padlock shackle through the space where the handle passes through)
4. Pull test (try to pull with landing gear just off the ground and brakes on)
Thanks guys I will add this to the pre-departure checklist.

RE: Hose to Connect Baby Q grill to quick connect on MH

The quick connect on the motor home may be low pressure???????? The Baby Q needs high pressure. Any connection needs to be made just after the tank before the low pressure regulator.

RE: Slider Hitch??

Not entirely true. You can unhitch at any angle. But if more than 16 degrees, you need to lift the hitch plate out of the saddle, by pulling two pins, and leaving the jaws closed around the kingpin, then raising the front elevators higher to lift the hitch plate assembly out. Not a big deal, at all.
Thanks for the tip
How do you reconnect?
I may need a little more detail?

RE: Slider Hitch??

Get the automatic slider. I also have the Pullrite Superglide
You can go past 90 degrees and not have to worry.
Big investment up front $2000+ with the hidden rails so the bed is empty when you take the hitch out but well worth it.
One thing to keep in mind you have to be almost straight on (less than 18 degrees) to hook and unhook. This may or not be a problem for you but it came as a surprise to me. I was looking at a seasonal site which I would have had to jack-knife into. good thing I choose a different site.

Stabilize front landing gear

Has anyone tried to use ratchet straps on the front landing gear to stabilize a 5er? I seen this last weekend but did not get a chance to discuss it with the owner.

RE: Where is your plug installed?

What am I missing here?
I plugged my cord into the factory receptacle under the bumper next to the receiver hitch.
I have not had any problems so far.
Maybe it is because I have a short box?

RE: Rv Direct Cash up Front ?

Here is the update I promised.
BIL contacted RVD in May when is my unit going to be built?
RVD did not order the unit back in April as promised.
Something about a credit check?
BIL had financing at his own credit union and was paying cash.
After BIL told RVD he was paying cash RVD him it would be 12 weeks.
BIL contacted Jayco in May and told them how RVD had dropped the ball.
Jayco told BIL they would deliver a new 2009 on June 10.
Jayco delivered as promised.
RVD would not do a buyoff until June 18.
Bil picked up unit June 18.
Bottom line BIL got a 2009 unit for $9000 less than a 2008.
Would he buy there again?
Yes but would be in contact with RVD everyday.

The toilet stool is very low profile the seat is also very small.
Has any one replaced the toilet and if so what did you replace it with?

RE: What kind of wheel chocks do you use???

I have purchased 2 different mechanical chocks from CW and neither fit between the tires.($30 for return shipping):SNever buy shoes without trying them on.:S
It looks like Roto Chocks or home made will be the best way to go.
Thanks for all the input.
